Frequently asked questions

What age of students do you teach?

I teach students of all ages, from young beginners to adults and seniors. It’s never too early—or too late—to start learning piano! However, I usually accept students beginning at age 6.

Do you teach beginners?

Yes! I specialize in working with beginners and will guide you step-by-step, even if you’ve never touched a piano before.

What is your teaching style?

I offer a combination of traditional note-reading and an accelerated chord-based method, allowing students to play music quickly while building a strong musical foundation.

Do you offer in-person or virtual lessons?

Both! I offer in-person lessons as well as virtual lessons for added flexibility. Virtual lessons are offered using either FaceTime or Google Meet.

How long are lessons?

Lessons are typically 30 minutes, but longer sessions may be available depending on the student’s needs.

What are your rates?

Lessons are $40 per 30 minutes. I also offer a discounted rate of $30 per 30 minutes for senior citizens (55+)

What days and times are you available?

I currently offer lessons on Friday evenings and Saturdays. Additional times may open in the future..

Do I need a piano at home?

Yes, students should have access to a piano or keyboard at home for regular practice between lessons. Keyboards should be 88 keys or at least 60+ keys. Weighted keys are best to give more of a true piano feel.

How often should students practice?

Consistent practice is key! I recommend practicing at least 5 days a week, even if only for short periods.

Can you help with church or worship music?

Absolutely! I have experience playing for church and can help students learn worship music, chord progressions, and accompaniment skills.

What if I miss a lesson?

Please provide advance notice if possible. Make-up lessons may be offered depending on availability.

Do you teach music theory?

Yes, music theory is incorporated into lessons in a practical and easy-to-understand way.

Do you offer recitals or performance opportunities?

Opportunities may be offered depending on student interest. Performance is encouraged but never required.
